DCS presents the Blackmagic Design Ecosystem

Please join the Digital Cinema Society as we explore the many innovative production and post products from Blackmagic Design. We’ll get updates on the latest technology, from Digital Cinema cameras like the 4.6K URSA Mini Pro to the ubiquitous DaVinci Resolve, which integrates not only color correction, but sophisticated Editing functions and the Fairlight Audio Mixing Interface. We’ll also get a look at the latest enhancements to Fusion VFX Software and the ATEM Live Production Switchers.

As an added bonus, representatives of OWC and MacSales will be on hand to demo their latest I/O and Storage products including the new USB-C 3.1 Thunderbolt Dock and Thunderbay RAIDs , up to 48TB, with SoftRAID management software.

The program will be moderated by DCS Founder, James Mathers and the featured speaker will be Filmmaker and CEO of Atomic Imaging and Golan Studios, Ari Golan.  Refreshments will be served courtesy of Blackmagic and valuable products provided by both Blackmagic and OWC will be raffled off to those in attendance.

Friday, May 19th from 1PM-6PM and Saturday, May 20th from 9AM-2PM. At Golan Studios, 1501 N. Magnolia Avenue, Chicago, IL 60642. *(Saturday will be a repeat of Friday’s workshop, so do NOT plan to attend both.)

Ari Golan (Director/DP/Aerial DP/Helicopter & Drone Pilot) from Atomic Imaging will be demonstrating set up, configuration and use of the Freefly MoVI Pro, MoVI Controller and Alpha Wheels, along with mounting and tuning of the Flowcine Black Arm on vehicles, and flying the MoVI Pro with the Alta 8 heavy lifter Drone. Ari will also discuss the different applications for, and differences between Gimbals vs. Steadicams, Vehicle Stabilizing arms vs. “Russian Arms”, Drones vs. Helicopter and the current state of Drone law in Chicago.

Sebastian Lumme from Camadeus will demo and train dolly grips on the set up and operation of the Panther Dolly, U-Bangi Slider, Jib arm and the new Precision Leveling Track.

Due to the hands-on nature of this Workshop/Seminar, we will divide into separate groups and rotate. Attendance is free, but space will be limited, so RSVP/Ticket is required.

Blackmagicdesign and Digital Cinema Production Open House

 

Atomic Imaging, a Chicago-based full-service film/video production, integrated media, digital imaging and television sound stage/studio rental facility, will be hosting an Open House on this Thursday, Nov. 5th from 10:00AM – 6:00PM and Friday Nov. 6th from 9:00AM – 3:00PM  for a two day look at the Blackmagic Product Line featuring the new Blackmagic Design demo van. Products scheduled to appear include the new URSA mini 4K EF, URSA 4K PL, Micro Studio Camera 4K, Blackmagic Video Assist (portable monitor & recorder), ATEM Swithcers and a host of other products in the demo van. The van also feautres a full DaVinci Resolve system, and Resolve 12 demos will be given throughout the two day event.

The event will also include presentations from Bob Caniglia, Sr. Regional Manager of Blackmagic Design.

It addition, complementary products for cinema production will be shown, including CamDolly, Fotodiox Edge Lights, Sachtler tripods, Wooden Camera cages & rigging accessories, Rokinon cinema lenses and Teradek wireless transmitters. Digital Cinema Production Open House featuring Blackmagic, ZEISS, Wooden Camera, Teradek and Sachtler

Golan Studios/Atomic Imaging, a Chicago-based full-service film & television production and studio rental facility, will be hosting an Open House/Product Showcase on Wednesday, January 14th, 2015 from 1:00PM – 6:00PM and Thursday, January 15th from 9:00AM-2:00PM featuring Blackmagic Design digital cinema cameras, ZEISS Lenses and the newest URSA rigging accessories from Wooden Camera.

The event will include hands on demonstrations of the brand new Blackmagic URSA Cinema Camera, the BMD Studio Camera and the complete Cinema Camera line (Production 4K, Cinema 2.5K and Pocket Cinema Cameras), along with a variety of third party rigs and lenses and DaVinci Resolve 11.

The event will also include presentations (informal schedule) from Bob Caniglia, Sr. Regional Manager of Blackmagic Design, and renowned Director/Cinematographer, Ari Golan. With more than 30 years of production experience in the film, television and commercial world, Ari will discuss the technical merits of the products as well as share his experience shooting the very first feature film to be released that was shot on Blackmagic cameras.
