Interactive: The Future is Here Now

ARI GOLAN: New technology is opening up to a world of technology to people who aren’t qualified to be producing this. Just because someone has MIDI sequencing equipment, it doesn’t make him a composer. When we hire staff, even for multimedia purposes, we look for people who have a strong broadcast background.

GOLAN: People are driven by the novelty of the technology, the novelty of the interactivity, and the novelty of seeing digital video on disc. As that novelty wears off, it will go back to the more traditional methods of farming out the work to people who specialize in it. It’s not going to change the agencies at all. The agencies that make the commitment to be involved in that kind of production will do it.
